What is IPS?

We have disruptive IP that is capable of maintaining econstantf temperature for +24 hours from -25C to 18C. This is called Intelligent Preservation Systems(IPS) and is the ONLY portable refrigerated/freezer system in the world that can provide constant temperature. IPS uses the latest RFID IT technology that optimizes the e-Commerce's online logistics inventory management.
IPS achieves a dramatic improvement in the value chain while reducing the waste and energy. This technology has already been proven successful in Taiwan for the past couple of years and used by companies like 7-11, Starbucks, T Join Transportation, Chunghwa Post , Pelican Express Co and the Taiwan Blood Bank.

The Innovation thru Energy has been tasked with globalizing the 'constant' temperature technology, as well as, extending the applications from beyond the current food preservation sector to the new areas such as life science, military, flowers and air cargo.

Equipments of IPS-Multi-temperature Logistic System

Unique Features of IPS
- Supports and combines multiple temperature products in one shipment
- Retains constant temperature for 24 hours or more
- Eliminates the need for local refrigerated/freezer trucks by using common carrier trucks, saves 60% hardware and 30% to 40% in fuel cost.
- Reduces global warming by reducing CO2(Carbon footprint)
- Incorporates the latest innovation in supply chain technology
- Uses RFID for Smart Inventory Control
- Maintains different temperatures as per the delivery requirement to keep the best quality conditions from production to storage thru distribution and finally to POS

How does the IPS work?
ITRI has spent 7 years, and has filed 31 patents in developing the IPS. The key technology is in the cold eutectic plates, and the way they are utilized to maximize the length of time at constant temperature. This cold plates are placed in a freezer for up to 6 to 10 hours to charge at a designated temperature (ex: -25C), and then placed in commercial cooler boxes that are designed to optimize the unique cold plate technology. The commercial coolers are then placed in common carrier trucks. ITE plans to take this existing technology, and in the joint partnership with ITRI (Intellectual property derived from the new products will be mutually shared between ITRI and ITE) customize it for applications in various markets, such as life science (medical) and air cargo.

Where can the IPS are used?
Since 2003, the IPS has been used in the food delivery industry in Taiwan (by end customers like Starbucks and 7-11). It is also being used in the life sciences (the Taiwan Blood Bank is an end customer). It can also be used in the fish, air cargo, flower, military and disaster relief, as well as several other industries. Up to this point, in time the IPS has been extensively used and is an integral part of T-Join Corporation, the dominant local logistics company in Taiwan with a 35% market share.

Why use the IPS vs. traditional systems?
Using the IPS allows companies to eliminate the freezer truck and the refrigerator truck on local deliveries, and replace it with a common carrier truck (no-refrigeration). In short, the common carrier truck using the IPS can carry frozen food, refrigerated food and non refrigerated food all in one truck. In addition to this, the IPS can maintain constant temperature within .6C for a +12 hours period. In the current existing traditional system of making local deliveries with refrigerator or freezer trucks, both types of trucks need special insulation and a compressor to maintain a safe temperature range for the food that they are carrying. The additional cost of the fuel to run the traditional system vs. a common carrier (non refrigerated truck) is roughly 35% higher. In addition to this the overall cost of running a common carrier truck vs. the refrigerator or freezer truck is +50% less.

Product Roadmap & Focus Markets

ITE plans to take this existing technology, and in the joint partnership with ITRI customize it for applications in various markets, such as life science (medical) and air cargo, including emerging markets, where saving energy is the critical factor to optimized the value chain supply cost.
